WORKSHOP FOR RESERVOIR HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM

I have had the privilege of working with the leadership teams at a couple of schools this year. This week I engaged in an off-site Workshop for Principal Katie Watmough and her Leadership Team at Reservoir High School. I am really inspired by the commitment of our school leaders and teachers in these public schools. Lots of senior managers on my workshops are also full of praise for the private schools that their children attend. My own father started out as a carpenter and later became the Principal of a government primary school in Bendigo. The initial leader of the century-old Dandenong High School, where I also provide leadership workshops for its first female Principal Susan Ogden and her leadership team, had just returned from duties with the light horse brigade in World War 1, and the making of the Anzac legend. DHS has become a wonderfully diverse school with a highly supportive learning environment. It does seem to me that our public education system of primary schools, secondary schools and universities, has been the backbone of the egalitarian ethos that Australians love and eulogise so much. It takes commitment and leadership to keep that a reality in modern Australia.
