Amanda Sinclair was appointed Foundation Professor of Management (Diversity and Change) at Melbourne Business School, The University of Melbourne in 1995. Before joining the School in 1988, she worked in government and consulting.
Amanda conducts research and teaches in areas of leadership, ethics and change and gender and diversity. She has designed and delivered MBA and executive curricula in subjects including Leadership, Change and Organisations, Management and Ethics and Managing Difference and she enjoys a reputation as a challenging and controversial teacher. Amanda also consults to organisations and management teams and coaches executives.
With a longstanding interest in leadership, Amanda’s books include: Trials at the Top (1994); Doing Leadership Differently (1998, 2004); New Faces of Leadership (2002); and Leadership for the Disillusioned (2007). In this most recent book, she argues for leadership that aims to free people, both followers and leaders.
Amanda also teaches yoga and meditation, and, with colleagues at Melbourne Business School, has pioneered new approaches to teaching, practising and researching leadership, incorporating insights from meditative traditions, mindfulness research and yoga such as paying attention to breath and bodies.
