THE DANGER OF IMPOSING VALUES
Scores of people are dying daily by cult values as some sort of idealisation that presents to their imagination a future devoid of obstacles.
The notion that a leader can choose the values for an organisation is a fantasy. No one is able to say ‘these’ are going to be ‘your’ values. I believe it is an illusion to think that you, leader or not, might be able to manufacture a value; however you may be able to manufacture a norm. You can only demonstrate through your behaviour and interactions with others what your values are, but you can’t instruct someone else to have a voluntary compulsion – a value - that’s personal to them.
